A faster, cleaner way to work with text
VerbCount is a privacy-first text utility hub. Paste your text once and instantly see words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, reading time, and speaking time — then dig into keyword density, common phrases, and a readability estimate without leaving the page.
Writers use it to hit word counts, social media managers use the live platform previews to stay under the character limits for X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, SMS, and Google Ads, and SEO professionals use the meta title and description previews to craft snippets that don't get truncated in search results.
Unlike many counters, VerbCount is Unicode-aware: emoji and accented characters are counted the way people actually perceive them. If you want the details, the Methodology page explains exactly how each metric is calculated.
Frequently asked questions
Is VerbCount free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use, with no account required and no limits on how often you use it.
Is my text private?
Completely. All counting, cleaning, and formatting happens locally in your browser. Your text is never uploaded to a server, logged, or stored.
Does the counter handle emoji and other languages?
Yes. VerbCount counts user-perceived characters (grapheme clusters), so emoji count as one character, and it correctly segments words in languages like Chinese and Japanese.
Why does my count differ from another tool?
Tools disagree because "character" has several valid definitions — visible characters, code points, or bytes. VerbCount shows several at once and explains the difference on the Methodology page.
